Age-specific learning, socialization, and adventure that builds the foundation to become an adventure-ready adult dog.
Book →The adolescent phase, roughly 10 months to 2 years, is when many dogs suddenly seem to forget everything they learned as puppies. They test boundaries, get overstimulated, and develop bad habits fast if left in an unstructured environment. OutWoof Bound's teen dog daycare in Portland is built specifically for this stage, channeling teenage energy into impulse control, leash manners, and appropriate social skills.
At $75 per session, adolescent dogs get structured play, trainer-led guidance, and the consistency they need to come out the other side as calm, well-mannered adults. A certified trainer runs every session, so your teenage dog builds good habits instead of rehearsing chaos. We serve SE Portland and the greater metro.
The teenage phase catches many owners off guard. A puppy who had house training and basic manners down suddenly starts ignoring cues, testing limits, and reacting to everything. This is normal: adolescent dogs are going through real neurological and hormonal changes, and their brains are rewiring. The dogs who come through it best are the ones who get consistent structure during this window, not the ones left to figure it out alone.
That is exactly what our teen program provides. Instead of letting adolescent energy turn into leash-pulling, jumping, and selective hearing, we channel it into impulse control, focus, and appropriate play with other dogs. A certified trainer guides every session, reinforcing the good habits that will define your dog as an adult. Owners are often amazed at how much calmer their teenage dog is after consistent structured days.
Good habits set now last a lifetime.
The adolescent stretch, roughly six to eighteen months, is when most SE Portland families first get asked to leave a daycare. We are at 5404 SE 72nd Ave in Mt. Scott-Arleta, within about fifteen minutes of Woodstock, Mt. Scott, Brentwood, Sellwood, Eastmoreland, Richmond, Hawthorne, Mt. Tabor, Montavilla, Lents and Creston-Kenilworth, and about twenty from Milwaukie, Happy Valley and Oregon City. Teenage dogs need structure more often, not less, so proximity tends to decide whether a family can keep the routine through the hardest six months.
