Our Angels is a tribute page for beloved pets from the Outwoof Bound community. Every dog and cat who spent time at 5404 SE 72nd Ave has a place here.
Losing a pet is hard. We carry each angel in our hearts. This page honors the reactive dogs who found their calm here. The anxious dogs who grew braver. The cats who trusted us with their care. All of them.
Every pet who walks through our doors becomes part of the Outwoof Bound family. Reactive dogs. Anxious dogs. Bite-history dogs. Rescue dogs. Cats who found quiet corners in our cat room. Every one of them matters.
When a pet passes on, the Outwoof Bound community feels it. Staff grieve. Families grieve. We created Our Angels as a space for that grief to live — and for those pets to be remembered.
Our Angels · every pet who mattered here still matters here
Families can submit a tribute for any pet who was part of the Outwoof Bound community. We include dogs and cats who attended daycare, stayed for boarding, or completed training sessions. Here’s how:
Our Angels · every pet carries forward in our community
If you’re grieving a pet, you don’t have to do it alone. Portland has several resources:
If you’re struggling with a pet’s passing, please reach out. Grief is harder in isolation.
The Outwoof Bound team grieves pets too. When we learn that a regular daycare dog or boarding cat has passed, we note it. We acknowledge it with the family. We think about that pet during quiet moments in the facility.
If your pet was enrolled at Outwoof Bound and has passed, please let us know. We’d rather know than wonder when your dog stops coming to daycare. A short email to jessica.mandell8@gmail.com is enough.

Email jessica.mandell8@gmail.com with ‘Our Angels Submission’ in the subject line. Include your pet’s full name, years with you, a favorite photo, and a short memory you want to share.
Can my pet be on Our Angels if they weren’t a regular client?
Yes. Any pet from the Outwoof Bound community qualifies. That includes pets who attended even once, pets of staff members, and pets of rescue partner organizations.
Is there a cost to submit a tribute?
No. Submitting a tribute to Our Angels is free. We’re glad to honor pets from our community.
How long after my pet passes should I wait to submit?
There’s no timeline. Submit a tribute whenever you’re ready — days, months, or years after your pet’s passing. Grief has no schedule.
What if I don’t want a public tribute but want to share with you?
Private messages stay private. If you want to share your pet’s memory with us without publishing, just mention that in your email. We still read and respond to every message.

Can I include multiple pets in one tribute?
Yes. Families who’ve lost multiple pets from the Outwoof Bound community can include them in one tribute or submit separate tributes — whichever feels right.
Will other Outwoof Bound families see my tribute?
Yes, tributes are visible on Our Angels for the community to see. This creates a shared space where pets are remembered together.
How do I let Outwoof Bound know my pet has passed?
A short email to jessica.mandell8@gmail.com is enough. We appreciate knowing so we can update our records and hold your pet in our thoughts. You can let us know without submitting a public tribute.

Outwoof Bound offers full Portland dog care under one roof. We run trainer-led Portland dog daycare for working families. We run overnight Portland dog boarding for every travel scenario. We run specialized programs for anxious dogs, reactive dogs, and bite-history dogs that other programs turn away. Whether you’re searching for Our Angels Outwoof Bound in SE Portland, weekend dog boarding Portland families trust, or long-term Portland dog boarding during travel, every service is structured by a certified trainer at 5404 SE 72nd Ave.
Anxious dog Portland owners appreciate our open signup. We do not need prerequisite private training sessions. The free welcome call or Meet & Greet is the only gate. Even that is optional for puppies four months and under without severe behavior concerns. Reactive dog Portland owners find that the Behavior & Socialization Day Program ($90/day) creates structured exposure opportunities. Portland dog boarding clients choose from five tiers spanning $90 Basecamp Beds to $145 Trainer’s Lodge in-home care. Each option matches the dog’s temperament rather than kennel space.

Dog anxiety shows up in more Portland dogs than owners realize. The signs aren’t always dramatic, — sometimes it’s a dog who freezes at every doorbell, a dog who refuses food when left alone, a dog who reacts defensively to other dogs despite being well-socialized as a puppy. Understanding what anxiety actually looks like is the first step toward finding care that addresses it, rather than avoiding it.
Dogs who destructively chew, pace, bark excessively, or eliminate indoors only when their owner leaves. Portland has higher rates due to remote-work shifts creating sudden alone-time for dogs used to constant company.
Fireworks (a Portland 4th of July reality), thunderstorms, construction sounds, or household noises that trigger trembling. Hiding, panting, or escape attempts. These behaviors often worsen over time without planned exposure work.
Lunging, barking, or spinning at the sight of other dogs, strangers, bikes, or cars during walks. The dog isn’t “bad” — they’re overwhelmed and can’t self-regulate without support.
Under-socialized puppies, rescue dogs with unknown histories, or dogs who’ve had negative visits in group settings. Open-play daycare often makes this worse, not better.
We welcome anxious and reactive dogs without requiring expensive prerequisite training sessions. Outwoof Bound operates differently:

Outwoof Bound serves Portland dog owners and cat owners from the SE Portland location at 5404 SE 72nd Ave, Portland, Oregon 97206. Common service neighborhoods include Brentwood-Darlington, Foster-Powell, Woodstock, Mt. Scott-Arleta, Lents, Creston-Kenilworth, Reed, Sellwood-Moreland, Eastmoreland, Hawthorne, Mt. Tabor, Montavilla, Brooklyn, Hosford-Abernethy, Buckman, Sunnyside, Richmond, Powellhurst-Gilbert, Pleasant Valley, and Centennial. Boarding clients also travel from Happy Valley, Oregon City, Clackamas, Milwaukie, Gladstone, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Gresham, and downtown Portland for trainer-led overnight care that nearby daycares do not offer.
Most Portland dog daycares run open-play rooms where any dog meeting basic temperament screening goes in with the rest. Reactive dogs, anxious dogs, and bite-history dogs get screened out or never welcomed in. Outwoof Bound built a second track for those dogs. The Behavior and Socialization Day Program at $90/day runs alongside the standard Basecamp Daycare track at $55/day, with separate space, structured pacing, and a certified trainer present the entire time.
Cat owners in Portland often struggle to find boarding that respects feline stress thresholds. Outwoof Bound runs cat boarding and cat daycare in a separate cat-only space with vertical perches, private rest areas away from dog noise, and staff visits every few hours instead of leaving cats alone for long stretches. Single cats, bonded pairs, and multi-cat households all welcome.
Pet owners traveling from Portland International Airport (PDX) use Outwoof Bound for airport-area boarding. The facility is roughly 25 minutes from PDX and accepts drop-off the morning of departure. Pet taxi service runs round-trip between PDX area neighborhoods and 5404 SE 72nd Ave for clients who would rather have their dog or cat picked up than driven over themselves.
First-time clients book a free welcome call or in-person Meet and Greet at outwoofbound.as.me. The Meet and Greet covers a tour of the space, an honest discussion of fit, and a chance for the dog to sniff the facility. For dogs new to daycare, an Assessment Day at $55 gives a certified trainer four hours to build a written behavior profile that determines which track fits best. Puppies four months and under can skip the formal Meet and Greet unless severe behavior concerns are present.
Boarding bookings happen through the same Acuity scheduling system or by calling 503-610-8871. Cat boarding requires a quick visit beforehand to introduce the cat to their assigned space. Pet taxi service can be added to any boarding or daycare booking for an additional fee based on round-trip distance.
